The Department does not have any separate administrative policy for the general course. After passing 12th class final examination, the intending students are admitted in Education subject as the general course. There are 30 seats in Honours Course where admission is given on the basis of cut-off 45%. In case of number of eligible candidates exceeds the intake capacity the Department given preference to the meritorious students.

35. Learning Resource
A departmental library has been maintained for the benefits of students, faculty members as well as alumni. There are about 160 books which include text books and reference books in the Departmental Library. The books are issued to the student and teacher on the basis of needs. Professor Zakir Hussain Khan is the In-charge of the Departmental Library. Apart from the conventional procedures, laptop is being used for comprehensive teaching in the smart board class room.

The Department of Education regularly organized class room teaching, Group discussion, Seminar, Team Teaching & Laboratory Practical among the students within the Department and continuous evaluation process is done. The faculty members participate in co-curricular and extension activities organized by college authority.
a) Home Assignments are given to the Students.
b) Laboratory Practical is done by Honours Course students.
c) Project Work is done by Honours Course Students on the basis of survey.
d) Group Discussion and Team teaching are held with the co-operation of other departmental faculty members.

c) The department is conscious of its role in campus community connection, well being of its neighbourhood and has initiated a number of community development activities. These activities include: Involving students in Blood Donation Camps, World environment day, Relief for flood victims, Sachya Bharat Abhiyan etc.
42. SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans:
Strength:
• Highly qualified, competent, dedicated faculty.
• In house orientation of faculty by the head of the Department,
• Departmental library facilitated. Weakness:
• Students Teacher ratio is very high i.e 281:1 the number of permanent faculty inadequate
• Lack of computerised and electronic departmental laboratory facility.
Opportunities:
• Resource support can be received from neibouring colleges, Gauhati University and group of institutions.
• The department may introduce P.G. course.
Challenges:
• The serving area of the college covering in Minority backward area, Tribal area and revering area where the feeder institutions are very weak.
• Innovative practice teaching method has been constraint due to lack of Autonomy in college level under semester system adopted by Gauhati University
Future Plan:
The department will initiate to introduce P.G Course in future .Moreover National & International level seminar/workshop will be held in the department. Proposal for Minor Research project will be submitted to UGC for sanction.
